The Jumbo Press Foundation Project involved the design and construction of a robust foundation for Atlantic Packaging's Jumbo Press. This included structural design, site preparation, permitting, excavation, concrete pouring, and installation of supporting systems, all aimed at ensuring long-term stability and operational efficiency.
Planning & Coordination: Worked with a structural engineer OEM and Atlantic project team to prepare detailed drawings and obtain necessary approvals from the City of Toronto for a new TCL Printing Press.
Site Preparation: Prior to full mobilization we hung tarps from floor to ceiling and installed construction fencing for dust control. GPS Total Stations were used for precision layouts.
Construction: During construction we worked hand in hand with the Atlantic operations team to ensure no disruptions in their manufacturing lines. This included setting up specialized pump bridges for the pour and floor maintenance.
Concrete Pouring: Given the precision required the floor sections needed to be finished with a +/- 5mm tolerance.
Inspections & Finalization: NRF conducted multiple inspections throughout the construction process working alongside the City of Toronto to complete the project all the way to occupancy.
The project resulted in a precise and durable foundation, meeting Atlantic Packaging's & OEM’s specifications. It ensured structural integrity, operational readiness for the Jumbo Press, and long-term support for the facility’s needs.
