The Jumbo Press Foundation Project involved the design and construction of a robust foundation for Atlantic Packaging's Jumbo Press. This included structural design, site preparation, excavation, concrete pouring, and installation of supporting systems, all aimed at ensuring long-term stability and operational efficiency.
Planning & Coordination: Worked with a structural engineer to prepare detailed drawings and obtain necessary approvals from the City of Toronto.
Site Preparation: Used Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for utility scanning and mobilized equipment for excavation.
Construction: Sawcut floor slab, excavated to proposed sub-grade, and installed reinforcing steel and other materials.
Concrete Pouring: 30 MPa concrete was poured and finished seamlessly using a pump truck.
Inspections & Finalization: Geotechnical engineer supervised inspections, and heavy-duty steel grating was installed for forklift load support.
The project resulted in a precise and durable foundation, meeting Atlantic Packaging's specifications. It ensured structural integrity, operational readiness for the Jumbo Press, and long-term support for the facility’s needs.
